What is Alloy 59 Material?

Alloy 59 (grade N06059) is a highly corrosion resistant nickel-based alloy. Here are some more details about Alloy 59 alloy:

Specific Composition:

- Nickel (Ni): 55-59 %

- Chromium (Cr): 22-24 %

- Molybdenum (Mo): 15-17 %

- Copper (Cu): 1.5-2.5 %

- Iron (Fe): max. 0.5 %

- Vanadium (V): 0.2% max.

- Silicon (Si): max. 0.1 %

- Manganese (Mn): maximum 0.1 %

- Carbon (C): 0.01% max.

- Boron (B): 0.01% max.

- Phosphorus (P): max. 0.015 %

- Sulphur (S): max. 0.010 %

Specific gravity: approx. 8.4 g/cm³.

Production Standards: Alloy 59 alloy conforms to one of the following standards:

- ASTM B622: Standard Specification for Seamless Nickel and Nickel Alloy Tubes and Pipes
- ASTM B619: Standard Specification for Welded Nickel and Nickel Alloy Tubes and Pipes
- UNS N06059: Uniform Numbering System for Alloy 59

Forging: Alloy 59 can be processed by the hot forging process.

Heat Treating: Alloy 59 can be solution treated and cooled to improve its mechanical properties.

Cold Working: Alloy 59 alloys can be altered in shape and size by cold working (e.g., cold rolling, cold drawing).

CORROSION RESISTANCE: Alloy 59 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, especially in conditions containing corrosive media such as chlorine, acids, and alkalis. It has high corrosion resistance to seawater, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid and chlorides.

Mechanical Properties: The mechanical properties of Alloy 59 alloy are as follows:

- Yield strength: about 300 MPa
- Tensile strength: approximately 620 MPa
- Elongation: greater than 40 per cent

Properties: Alloy 59 has good corrosion resistance, high temperature stability, excellent mechanical properties and weldability.

Welding material grade: For welding Alloy 59 alloy, you can use welding wire with similar composition to the alloy, such as ERNiCrMo-13.

Areas of application: Due to its excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature stability, Alloy 59 is widely used in the chemical industry, oil and gas processing, marine engineering, oil refineries, fertiliser plants and other fields. It is commonly used in the manufacture of corrosion-resistant equipment and components, such as:

- Corrosive media storage tanks and vessels
- Pipes and fittings
- Heat exchangers and condensers
- Pumps and valves
- Flue gas desulphurisation equipment
- Seawater treatment plants
