Inconel 625 composition, properties, forging, heat treatment and application introduction

Inconel 625 is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel-based alloy with excellent resistance to oxidation, wear, corrosion and high temperature stability. Below is a description of some of the definitions, compositions, processing, properties and applications of this alloy:

Definition:
Inconel 625 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with high corrosion resistance and strength. It is composed of various elements such as nickel, chromium, molybdenum, iron, cobalt, copper, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulphur and carbon.

Composition:
The chemical composition of Inconel 625 is: nickel (Ni) accounted for at least 63%, chromium (Cr) accounted for 20-23%, molybdenum (Mo) accounted for 8-10%, iron (Fe) accounted for less than 5%, copper (Cu) accounted for less than 0.5%, manganese (Mn) accounted for less than 0.5%, silicon (Si) accounted for less than 0.5%, phosphorus (P) accounted for less than 0.015%, sulfur (S) accounted for less than 0.015%, carbon (C) accounted for less than 0.015%. below, carbon (C) accounted for less than 0.1%, aluminium (Al) accounted for less than 0.4%, titanium (Ti) accounted for less than 0.4%, and the remaining amount is nickel (Ni).

Forging:
Inconel 625 can be forged by a variety of methods, including hot forging, isometric pressing, and rolling. Hot forging is the most commonly used method and provides the best mechanical properties.

Heat Treatment:
Inconel 625 can be annealed at elevated temperatures to reduce internal stresses and improve creep resistance and strength. Alternatively, it can be hardened and aged to increase its hardness and strength.

Cold working:
Inconel 625 can be cold worked by a variety of methods, including cold drawing, cold rolling, cold shrinking and cold forming. Prior to cold working, it needs to be heated above 400°C to reduce its brittleness.

Corrosion Resistance:
Inconel 625 has excellent corrosion resistance and exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in many acidic and alkaline environments. It can withstand environments with high chloride ion content and can also be used at high temperatures and pressures.
