Advancing Technology: Hastelloy B10 Redefines Reliability in Marine and Offshore Applications

Hastelloy B-10 is a high-temperature alloy containing nickel, cobalt, chromium, and molybdenum; it is designated UNS N10001.

The specific composition is as follows:

Nickel (Ni): 70 %
Cobalt (Co): 28 %
Chromium (Cr): 0.5 %
Molybdenum (Mo): 0.5 %
Iron (Fe): 0.5 %
Manganese (Mn): 0.3 %
Hastelloy B-10 can be machined and formed by forging, heat treating, and cold working processes. Heat treatment is usually performed at temperatures of 1050-1150°C to remove residual stresses and improve the toughness and strength of the material. Cold working can be performed by processes such as rolling, drawing and extruding.

Hastelloy B-10 has excellent corrosion resistance and performs well in a wide range of corrosive media including strong acids, bases, oxidizing and reducing agents. It also has good mechanical properties, including high strength, high hardness and good fatigue resistance.

The material has poor weldability, but reliable welded connections can be achieved by using special welding materials and processes. Hastelloy B-2 or Hastelloy B-3 are recommended as welding materials.

The application areas of Hastelloy B-10 include chemical, petrochemical, aerospace, nuclear industry, medical devices and other fields. It has a wide range of uses, such as the manufacture of chemical reactors, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, valves, centrifugal pumps and other equipment, as well as for the manufacture of components for high temperature and corrosive environments.
